It’s from a vineyard that was devastated in the 2009 fires, and has subsequently and progressively been re-planted since. Average vine age here is 6 years. No new oak used; all seasoned/new-ish oak. Cedar and plum, red cherry and sweet spice, a ripple of forest floor. There’s a macerated feel to this but it remains fresh; it boasts both substance and friskiness at once. Oak shows itself clearly in the wine but integration is sound. This is one for the cellar; it’s still coming together.
